Newt needs to be forced to address this immediately and to condemn it.

(58 posts)A pretty disgusting display of the racism that saved Gingrich in South Carolina.

(2 posts)I think the best thing to do is to ignore a fool who would shout such a thing. Seems to me no one on stage reacted to it?

(22,541 posts)by the way they all stopped dead still. And then newt decides to ignore it and keep giving his racist dog whistle speech.
I noticed it when I saw it but couldn't tell what the guy said. Now I can.
I should also mention the homophobic dog whistles he did, too. Disgusting.

(2 posts)It will be interesting to see if the media will ask Newt if he heard it, and if he will condem it. If we heard it, reporters have heard it.

(6,122 posts)The reporters will pretend not to have heard it, either.

(10,611 posts)How far will they allow the crazy, angry racism to continue?
The soundbites will not be good for them if the Dems choose to play this up.

(466 posts)Going to be yet another heated election. Surely haven't forgotten the cries from the idiots in the GOP audience, shouting to McCain to kill Obama, or that Obama was a terrorist back in '08.
On the bright side though, things like this continue to show sane American's just how insane the republicans are becoming.

the repubes usually try to make allusions to what Robert Byrd did over 60 years ago to avoid answering the question. When they do just repeat the question.

this is such crazy extreme shit I can't believe it (oh, yes I can), this stuff is allowed to happen and much worse. Obama has to deal with this every fucking day, day in and day out, he has to suffer this shit from so many people - but yet he plugs along and does his work the best he can. And he still remains a decent person regardless of all the hate splatters that are slung at him.
This is one reason I stand by him as solidly as I do - more so with each and every passing day I realize what a herculean task he has, even if things were 'normal' and low hanging scum like Newt and countless other repugs (and so called democrats that pretty well say the same shit - to you I say just fuck off already and hitch onto the other side where you really belong, but get out of the way) weren't making up huge lies about him and stirring up the innate bigotry in so many, the job is still too enormous to even properly comprehend.
Thank you, President Obama, for being a strong and good hearted person. We have your back, the large mouthed screamers are after your firey feet tho, so watch out.

(1,033 posts)I really hope that's just because of what drinks Newt was serving that night, but I doubt it. That was honestly one of the most disturbing political videos I've seen.

(54,401 posts)It's not because he agrees with the asshole who shouted it.
It's because he quickly calculated that it would be more expedient for him not to repudiate it.
That's the way Newt thinks about everything, whether it's his next wife, or his next move.
If Obama came out and supported millions for cancer research, Newt would check to see if
the radical right was interested in curing cancer, and if not, he would say that Obama was
onyl interested in wasting taxpayer money for frivolous medical adventures. If the radical
right WERE interested in spending millions for finding a cure cor cancer, Gingrich would then
bash Obama for not spending enough on it.
Tom Lehrer once wrote about Wernher von Braun: "a man whose allegiance is ruled by expedience."
Von Braun disengaged himself from Nazism. Maybe some day Gingrich will do the same--when it's
expedient to do so, of course.
