Georgia judge orders President Obama to appear in court over 'birthers' suit

A Georgia judge has ordered President Barack Obama to appear in court in Atlanta Thursday for a hearing on a complaint that says Obama isn’t a natural-born citizen and can’t be president.

Orly Taitz, the California attorney who brought the legal challenge to Obama’s name on the March Georgia presidential primary ballot, says this is what she has been working for over the last three years.

“This will be 100 times bigger than Watergate,” she said Saturday morning, referring to the scandal that brought down President Richard Nixon in 1974.

“There are high ranking judges and federal officials who are involved in this cover up. The ramifications of this trial will be enormous.”

Oh, I read that wrong. But that would be the only way that this would be "100 times bigger than Watergate": if the president showed up in a Georgia courtroom in his birthday suit. Otherwise, this is just more indication of how the crazy resides in every pocket of America.

This is so pathetic.

Widely-reported misinformation on Georgia hearing
By Dr. Conspiracy on January 23, 2012

<..> It’s totally bogus. Orly Taitz got a blank subpoena form signed by Judge Malihi from a State web site and served it on Obama’s attorney. While the Judge has so far refused defense motions to quash the subpoena, the Judge has not issued any order for Obama to appear, nor could he. An administrative law judge in Georgia lacks the authority to compel testimony; that takes an order from the Superior Court.

I am very disappointed that the media would repeat birther nonsense like this. Even the birthers are backing off from this rumor.

The media is losing it, reporting rumors as fact....what the hell.

It did seem surprising a judge would order Obama to turn up when everyone apart from Taitz agreed this was sorted out months, or years, ago.

The judge just denied the Defense motion to quash a subpoena. The defense attorney didn't provide any supporting reason for the judge (maybe just trying to buy time or assumed the judge would consider the suit frivolous).
The judge basically invited the defense to provide a reason to quash the subpoena so a revised motion is sure to follow soon.

This Judge needs to be impeached or recalled or whatever immediately.

What a waste of time, money, and resources for both the US Government and the State of Georgia. What an embarrassment for the latter.

That Obama needs only to respond with reasoned legal arguments of why it's frivolous and inconvenient??

Then it will be squashed or deferred?

I don't know if the attorney was busy or what, but the judge basically just asked him to give a reason why it should be quashed.
