11-year-old girl prompts breakfast for homeless at Winston-Salem church

The family started planning and coming up with a menu. The Guesses went to the Rev. George Banks, the pastor of the church on Patterson Avenue, about Wynter’s idea.

Banks said he immediately started rallying the congregation. He loved the idea, he said, because it aligns exactly with what the church routinely does in reaching out to the homeless.

“This is nothing new for the congregation,” he said. But he was touched that an 11-year-old girl wanted to do this for the Christmas season.

“I’m a firm believer in blessing people and showing the love of (Jesus) Christ,” he said.
The Guess family paid for the food, and church members donated the gift clothing.
