This may bore you. However it inspired me.
On Christmas Eve, I arrived at my nieces house for dinner along with other family members. The Children greeted us at the door, so eager. Not to receive gifts but to give them. They had decorated plain brown bags still dripping with paint. They were so very proud. Each held a gift for us. They had asked their mother if they could buy gifts too. For the family they love. For the family that loves them.
She took them to the store. They had their small wallets in hand, baskets on their arms to hold their precious selections. From the eldest I received a a beaded necklace with my initial on it., the youngest bought me a butterfly. Their ages are six and four. Babies really, so beautiful. They know the beauty of giving. It is a value that is learned through love and respect.
Do you remember the good old days, as a child. When you were allowed to run free, with out a care, without fear. As children we use to leave the house and take off into the woods and fields. From early morning to dusk we would prowl the great wealth that the world had to offer. We built forts. We played cowboys and indians. There were times that we pretended that we were horses. cantering ,galloping, soaring over fences in our world of make believe. No fear. No restraint. There were no cell phones then. No consent worry. Our mother never feared for us back then. We were safe.
It is a sad world that we are now facing. Things have changed. The places we once thought of as safe havens. They are no longer safe.
We proudly send our babies to school, to learn, to enrich there minds. Now we fear.
The time of innocence seems to have past. It is past time that we stand up and make a safer world for our children!
It is time for change.
We need to allow our children to complete their circle. We need to give them their lives.
The children are our future. Without them we are nothing.
It is time to stop the madness! It is time to stop it now!

(83,791 posts)It was somehow sweeter then. So free to roam, to enjoy the simple beauty that surrounded us. So many let that pass them by today without a glance!
Happy Holidays to you and yours!
