Impressive array of rhythms he's got there. I hope his parents/guardians recognize his talent and provide him with the necessary instrument(s) on which to expand. Thanks for sharing.

I sent this to Mickey Hart.

The kid exhibited amazing fluidity for his age.

I would leave him to the washing machine and let him make his own instrumental progression.

Somehow, we will track this child. This is great.

Neither are dashboards, steering wheels, kitchen tables, my knees or the top of my head. (Can you tell I've been around drummers all my life?) Seriously, I know what you're saying. But I believe talent is expanded when there are more options available. I know musicians (I are one). You don't have to force a natural musician to an instrument, he/she will automatically be drawn to it.

The complexity of his rhythms are amazing. If he hasn't been exposed to African/Cuban/Caribbean/Jazz rhythms, I'd be even more amazed as that means it's coming out of his head.

1. I hope they get him a drum set - not only to encourage him to develop musically but also so they can wash their clothes.
2. Reminds me of Buddy Rich's appearance on, "The Muppet Show," where he played the backstage area - drumming on counters, walls, pipes, etc.
3. Sure this is cute and impressive, but when I was a kid and did the same thing to the cat, I got yelled at.

and some people who have had severe brain injury have found hidden talent when they've recovered. It's as though our brains get in our way in some way and only when part is short circuited or damaged do these talents arise.

This kid is obviously a genius when it comes to rhythm. I hope they've gotten him a real drum set, or plan to.

The weirdest case I ever saw was a bus driver who survived a bleed inside his head and became a mathematical genius. I also knew a stroke patient who started to speak a foreign language that his family swore up and down that nobody else spoke. We could only figure that his grandparents had spoken it around him and he'd picked it up on some level.

The more you work around the brain, the weirder the whole thing gets. It's why neurology was my favorite field until my back couldn't cope with it any more.
