"Just Jack" a kid that will probably save millions of lives

From Adam Mordecai:

Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the United States. Pancreatic cancer is almost always fatal, because by the time you show symptoms, it's already too late. My grandmother died of pancreatic cancer, a few months after she was diagnosed. My father also died of pancreatic cancer a few months after he was diagnosed. I assumed, thanks to those genetics, that I too would someday die of pancreatic cancer, a few months after I inevitably am diagnosed. My assumption is no longer valid, thanks to the giant brain on this 15-year-old kid. Thanks Jack. I owe you a billion.

This is a bright light in a bleak time.
You go Jack!
And don't let Big Pharma roll you!

for 4 1/2 years and is doing fine. She is in a drug study and doesn't know if she's getting the drug or the placebo. We all thought it was a death sentence. What a blessing.

pain, to live.

Why can Britian have this up and ready in two years, but it will take 10 years in the United State to be up and ready when it was developed in this country?

Could it be because it will make cancer treatment so much less expensive and mess up a profitable business for big pharma?

The fact that it will available in the UK within 2 years but will take 10 here in the US is absurd. We need to find a way to get this pushed through the bureaucracy

Makes you wonder what else medical science could be doing - and why was a kid the one who discovered this.

I think he knew he was going to get the award because he jumped out of his seat before his name was called.

It's all good. He is very special.

He was waiting on the edge of his seat until a particular moment.

The kind of overwhelming joy he experienced was spontaneous and beautiful.

Congratulations and well deserved, Jack!

It's just a little piece of paper coated with a solution that detects for an overexpression of mesothelin consistent with pancreatic cancer.

I'm fukking impressed!
