A lot of fire departments have to wait on rescue calls if there are reports of weapons. Here in Lexington a firefighter...Brenda Cowan was killed on a rescue run...she was the first female firefighter in Lexington and had just been promoted to LI...and joined a rescue squad. Answering a call of a woman down in a yard...they responded and the husband who had killed his wife, shot Cowan as she ran to aid the woman.

If possible, a patrol car answers each fire/rescue run...sad that it has to be this way.
