(3,041 posts)But your point is well-taken.. and considering the fact that drunk driving laws are getting stricter and stricter, it just magnifies the difference between those laws and gun laws.

(3,041 posts)That people would find other ways to kill. They ignore the fact that guns do the job so much better (and from a distance) and can be used on impulse unlike other methods which often require some planning and/or expertise - look how low stabbing is on the chart.

(8,339 posts)Not only that, a gun removes you emotionally from the killing. It takes a lot of nerve to come up close enough to someone to stab them to death. For instance, that's why so many think OJ did kill Nicole and that "Colombian drug lords" was a ridiculous straw man. Drug lords use guns because it's one step removed from the victim. Stabbing takes a lot of passion and fury.

(11,862 posts)in Rwanda...as if they were more brutal...I told him...it takes a braver person to machete a person to death than it does to reign bombs on them from 5,000 feet...(this was about the first gulf war)..he was aghast...and had no response.
I agree that is is easier to kill someone with a gun than with a knife...I bet you a gazillion dollars that the gunman in Newtowne would not have been able to knife each child to death...

Even if it includes hanging, it doesn't make sense.
