By Juli Weiner
Politico published a list of 13 people to watch in politics in 2013a ragtag assembly of television executives (Jeff Zucker), incoming U.S. senators (Elizabeth Warren), Judd sisters (Ashley Judd), and failed 2012 vice presidential candidates (Paul Ryan). Read it! Or dont! Whatever.
But do read VF.coms corollary list of 13 People to Ignore in Politics in 2013. Which failed vice-presidential candidate made this list? Which, if any, Judd sister? And exactly how much does our Ignore-group overlap with Politicos pay-attention-to group? All is revealed below!
1. Sarah Palin. If something literally anything, good or bad happens, she will say something about it, and she will do it on Greta Van Susteren. The news value here is negligible.
2. John Boehner. The increasingly impotent House speaker will probably be out of a job as soon as his party can convince someone to volunteer to replace him.
6. Paul Ryan. Politico claims he has countless debates on entitlements, spending and taxes to look forward to in the coming year. Is America really willing to pay attention to a guy who (allegedly) looks forward to countless debates on entitlements?
12. Newt Gingrich. Its been 14 years since Gingrich was essentially deposed from Congress and America has never welcomed any of his attempted returns. 14 more years! 14 more years!

(913 posts)Ryan, McConnell, Norquist, Boehner because Vanity Fair calls them losers or decides for me that they're unimportant.
They are losers, but VERY powerful losers.
What does VF suggest I pay attention to? The latest runway fashion? CSI?

(45,319 posts)Number 10 is 'your Cappuccino'. Cappuccino is not even a person, and that might serve as a clue that this list of 'people to ignore' is made to entertain. This is not a serious piece, it is a mockery of a piece from Politico.

(1,009 posts)I guess VF needed to meet some deadline, so cobbled together a list of 13:
* Jill Kelley's husband in the list was actually linked to Paula Broadwell's husband.
* Don't understand the reference to Josh Romney's wife
* What's with the unnecessary hate for Wynona and Naomi Judd? They weren't involved in politics, now VF has to drag their name through the proverbial mud just because Ashley may have designs on politics?
* Essentially, they're all Republicans, and VF had to drag some token non-GOP into the list just to make it seem balanced.
How about Todd Akin? Richard Mourdock? Mitt Romney himself? Karl Rove? Rush Limbaugh? We've got your 13,000 to ignore for 2013.
