They say this let's us have a "real debate" about the deficit when we hit the debt ceiling in the next 8 weeks or so.
Of course the GOP will have all the leverage then and the Dems will have pretty much none if the reported deal pans out.
This tells you all you need to know about this deal.

(4,832 posts)Let Congress not raise the debt ceiling. If the American people want that, they will support them. I'm betting the GOP will suffer melt down if they put a halt to everything the government is doing..with Obama the one to chose which departments to send home first.
