"Don't fuck with me fellas. This ain't my first time at the rodeo." --Joan Crawford

"Proceed" -- President Barak Obama

When we wake up tomorrow, it will be 2013. The President, against all odds, has managed to kill the Bush Tax cuts. The President, against all odds, has somehow managed to get DEFENSE cuts passed.

There are no cuts to social security.

The stage is set for a tax cut for the middle class to be put up for a vote without any strings that also pay off the rich.

I know we all don't agree on the current negotiations but I'd like to remind you all that we just scored a major victory in November and that I couldn't think of a better bunch of people to spend the next year with bantering about the nuances of the next political fight we face.

I'll especially enjoy watching John Boehner's career flame out here as the Republicans continue their cannibalism.

A Very Happy New Year to you all, my DU friends, and may we revel in many more victories in the coming year.

people had a fit when they were extended last time so I'm giving him credit here for allowing them to expire.

even the GOP couldn't make them permanent. When they were enacted it was Republicans who put the sunset in the tax cuts, not the dems. All the dems voted against ALL the tax cuts, even with the sunset.

Permanently extending the cuts, which were going to expire automatically tomorrow, for up to the 98% percentile, is hardly "killing the Bush tax cuts against all odds".

I'm still smiling from reading the self-parodist running the Hair On Fire thread.

I think President Obama is doing just fine.

save a lot of money on the electric bill for a few days. The glow from all of the hair on fire will be enough to light up the place -- even the dark corners of the Gungeon.

Happy New Year to all...

When the sequestration was passed. Randi said on her show many times, that Medicare, SS and Medicaid, were not in the package. She pretty much hit it out the park, along with the President!! I know there has been some bashing of the President Obama about this, and I have been disappointed at times, but I think this was the plan all along.
