That doesnt leave a lot of wiggle room for Joe and Harry to play with.

(26,293 posts)Harkin is just doing what he thinks is right as are Biden and Obama its just they have a difference of opinion on what the right thing to do right now is which I actually find reassuring since it shows the democrats are still clearly open to differences of opinion unlike the republicans.

(7,867 posts)I'd like to follow the "breaking news" related to the agreement and potential vote later tonight...who is covering it? Are there any online sources? I went to the CSPAN website and CSPAN 1 and 2 seem to just be covering authors...
I wonder how Bernie Sanders will vote? You would think that if Harkin is voting against it, Sanders would, too.

(53,661 posts)Unemployment benefits would continue and said that the next Congress will not be allowed to focus solely on trying to balance the budget with spending cuts. I'm paraphasing but he mentioned cuts to Medicare will be offset by some type of savings and not lessen care, which is close to what I heard before. He said there would be defense cuts. The worst thing was cuts to Head Start that helps the poorest of childrne, I'm not sure if it's part or all, I sure hope not all. It's needed. So the Senate, instead of the normal way of doing things, is making the budget and then as you say it goes to the lower House since they can't do their jobs...
I know a lot of people wanted a straight over the cliff to make maximum cuts to everything, but they would have cut off all those on unemployment, which would have been devastating.
