that little bit of payrll tax cut was the difference. I took a pay cut to keep my job and instead of give backs they set themselves up for an easy retirement. By the time the necessary overtime is factored in to actually get my job done my yearly salary comes out to below minimum wage.
I'm not stupid but I'm not college material. I'll never make a lot and just grateful to have "sit down" work. My medical issues take up a fair bit of income so although I have no debt I also have NO savings.
When my check drops those couple of % I won't have quite enough to keep the gas in the car.
They are going to destroy the benefits of Medicare and SS I thought I'd have. I'm already 50.
I refuse to work until I die on job never having time or energy to enjoy the only life I get. YOU RICH PEOPLE CAN GO FUCK YOURSELVES.
If I am going to be poor anyway you can bet it will be on my own terms.

(3,333 posts)I've stoped taking my BP medicine because I know it will lead to death within the next five years. No way will I be able to retire and no way will I work until I die at 75.
At least this way, my wife gets life insurance as a payoff. She'll, at least, be able to retire at a normal age.

(3,333 posts)Two policies through old jobs that I pay less than $60/month on.
Policies through my current job that cost next to nothing.
All told, she gets more than seven figures and will have seven figures left after paying off all of the mortgage debt and her student loans (which are more than the mortgage debt).
On to of that, she will do better with my SS at retirement than she ever will with her own.
And the pittance of a 401K we still have will also be in the mix.

(3,333 posts)If I wait too long, I lose all policies with my current employer.
I'm 50, and they'll definitely look to get rid of me in the next two to five years.
All I have to do is let nature take its course now.
And that is precisely what I am doing.
It is a business decision.

(25,029 posts)before too long your unemployment will be a fraction of your current pay and it won't work at all and then only for a short time but it may do you good.

Your contribution to SS will pay off.
