Good luck to him. I'm thinking about it. $20 a year wouldn't kill me, but there are a lot of other places/things/people I could spend it on.

Still...thinking about it.

I clicked on it and it came up with $19.99. Maybe I should have clicked through.

Still debating. I still haven't joined TPM Prime even though I have a secret crush on Josh Marshall. But, Andrew getting out on his own is a brave move and one that should be encouraged.

i'm pretty sure he did say if you pre register that you name what you think it's worth a year.

edit to add snip, but not sure it means you can go below the $20

Which led us to a second thought: who better knows the value of a site than its readers? More to the point, we know the Dish is worth much more to some of you than others; that twice-daily readers plumb more of it than daily ones; and that multiple-click readers and regular emailers are the source of so much of our content, and might see the Dish as more valuable. So for those of you who would like to support the Dish over and above $19.99, we've left the price box empty. Pay $19.99 or what you think a year of reading the Dish is worth to you. No member will have any more access or benefits than any other member, but if hardcore Dishheads want to give us some love for the years of free blogging and for the adventure ahead, we'd be crazy not to take it.

The base cost is $19.99. He says you can pay more if you think he's worth it and you want to get the venture off the ground.

Where you can subscribe to a package of sites like Sullivan's, the NY Times, Krugman, DU, and whatever else for one price, say $50 bucks a year. You would not get any ads on the site, but your membership would include coupons for merchandise if you want.

Not sure why most here would care if he decides to continue bloviating or open a health spa.

(...although by GOP standards he's a flaming liberal) and he's a strong supporter of President Obama.

8. The Wave Of The Future...
Wed Jan 2, 2013, 03:06 PM

...it's a tough game out there for content providers. Ad revenues aren't cutting it for many bloggers as well as newspapers and magazines. Fewer people are reading the hard copy versions and there's a lot of people who have become accustomed to finding most of that same content online for free. While they love the expanded visibility they're looking for a way to generate a profit in the digital world. Going fully behind a paywall doesn't work...so we're seeing folks working on varying degrees of free and either pay/subscription or donation.

I know he has come around but WTF. I'd rather pay for someone who didn't call the left a "fifth column", support George Bush and support the Iraq war.
