Iran Says All Objectives Of Naval Drills Achieved
TEHRAN, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Navy wrapped up its six-day naval drills in the southern waters of the country on Wednesday with the spokesman for the drill Rear Admiral Amir Rastegari saying that the Iranian Navy achieved all the objectives of the military exercise, semi-official ISNA news agency reported.
In the drills, the navy forces practised swift reactions to unexpected incidents, exercised prompt stretch of the commandoes and military units, carried out rapid transfer of the forces by the helicopters, launched missiles with high precision and destructive powers, and implemented full utilization of communication systems and integrated commandment, Rastegari was quoted as saying.
The main message of the drills was to establish lasting security for the commercial ships in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman and the north of Indian Ocean, said Rastegari.
On Friday, Iranian navy launched a six-day massive drill, dubbed Velayat 91 or Guardianship 91, stretching from the Strait of Hormuz through the Sea of Oman and the north of the Indian Ocean to the Gulf of Aden and the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.
During the military exercise, Iran unveiled the new achievements, test-fired missiles and torpedoes, shot down hypothetical enemy unmanned aerial vehicles ( UAVs), adopted cyber defense techniques, tested the operational capabilities of its home-made hovercrafts, exercised mine-planting operations and tested the operational capabilities of its submarine units.
