(4,748 posts)I wonder what tune the California Reps. who voted no will sing when California gets hit by wildfires or mudslides or earthquake.
Mr.Bill
(24,330 posts)4/5ths of California's reps voted for the funding. It would be far more accurate to show a map where only the congressional districts of those that voted no were colored red.
ProSense
(116,464 posts)It's in red to show that only Republicans voted against the bill, and then the number of Republicans who did so is shown with the entire Republican delegation in parentheses. For example, 3(15) means that three of California's 15 Republican reps voted against the bill.
That's explained at the link.
Mr.Bill
(24,330 posts)and correct. Coloring an entire state red because one or more reps out of many voted against the aid is misleading. Numrical info - correct. Map - misleading.
Mr.Bill
(24,330 posts)The numerical information for California is not correct. Only two California reps voted against it. Not three like the map says.http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/113-2013/h7

We have idiots, less than last congress, but...the rural-urban divide is deep
Want me to go into Duncan Hunter?
And to my surprise neither voted against it...Ed Royce R CA-39 and Tom McClintock R CA-4 did. Check what or who they represent.

(20,889 posts)a large majority of the house voted for it and the vote came right after these house Republicans got owned on the national stage. Meaning there were a lot of unhappy teabaggers looking for a symbolic FU. Still the nation as a whole seems on the side of this bill. To which point hopefully Dems won't forget this vote come 2014 mid-terms. Americans are more compassionate as a nation than these representatives and particularly in the Gulf coast this vote might be helpful in wedging into those "safe" districts.

(61,712 posts)Federal disaster relief was granted to North Carolina for flooding due to Hurricane Sandy. Those four idiots voted against their own state getting disaster relief. Not a surprise, though. I see Virginia Foxx's reliable vote for stupid there.
