Republicans cry wolf on the deficit now, but not a peep before the Great Recession

Why, why, why are the Republicans still talking? Can't someone just slap them?

These Republicans who keep predicting deficit catastrophe are the same Republicans who issued no warnings whatsoever while their hero George W. Bush drove us into the Great Recession. In fact, they applauded while Bush and their core ideas wrecked the economy. They are also the same Republicans who told us Saddam Hussein had WMDs and was on his way to nukes.

The smart money says that whenever Republicans are howling, there's no problem. If they are keeping quiet, look for trouble. Republicans are to credibility what Greece is to fiscal policy.

"But while the four Republicans in Congressional leadership positions are attempting to hold the increase hostage now, they combined to vote for a debt limit increase 19 times during the presidency of George W. Bush. In doing so, they increased the debt limit by nearly $4 trillion."

the massive Bush deficits for 8 years. Cheney even said deficits don't matter, and the corporate press never questioned that statement. A few months after Obama takes office, all the repukes are running around Washington like a bunch of drunk carnival barkers screaming about deficits.
