I live in fear of a layoff or a huge medical crisis (as I'm sitting here waiting for blood work to come back to find out why I'm so freaking tired and have had a fever on and off for 3 weeks...). It is frightening to think about how one major crisis could impact so many of us in such a huge way. I really worry for so many of us that are in this position. I am also greatful daily for my job that pays well and has decent benefits.

Advice - NEVER, EVER, EVER go to webmd or google your symptoms. It will just scare the sh*t out of you.

But, back to the topic, after googling my symptoms... really, really scared me thinking about a serious illness, not being able to work, etc. I would be ok for a little while, but then, who knows.... and I know that compared to tons of people I have it pretty good. I just really worry for the many people out there that don't have the job/salary that I do and really live paycheck to paycheck with absolutely no cushion. It must be terrifying.

just hang on and keep doing the best you can to survive. It worked for me. You'd be surprised what you can bounce back from...financially or health wise.

They always liked the smug little joke:
What's a conservative?

Answer: A liberal who just got mugged.

My joke:
What's a liberal?

Answer: A conservative who just lost their job ( or got arrested )
