We got the country we deserve.

(Please, allow me the chance to explain this phrase completely to the best of my ability. Than you may flame away as you wish but I feel I needed to get this off my chest.)

When I said We I mean a country as a whole.

We have in a sense degraded into elementary age children -meaning no respect to young children- but how else would you explain the behavior of the American people as a whole. Yes, some of us are logical and reasonable but look around that. Look how selfish and cruel we have become to one another.

The last few days reminded me of youtube video I saw about 2 years ago. It is a you tube video that was removed because someone complained that the author was "swearing" too much but if truth be told I honestly think those who complained didn't like the mirror the author was holding up to American citizens. The Author of the you tube video was Dannish and basically defending his country's national health care to the Americans who where using it to keep us from getting the public option in this country.

One thing that the Author said that striked me. Was how the author believed that it was his duty as a citizen in his country to make sure his fellow citizens had the basic need of health care meet in order to be able to live. He felt when his fellow citizens where healthy his country performed better as a whole.

I than thought about the American psyche: "Keeping up with the Joneses", "Pull yourself up by the boot straps". "The Grass is always greener on the other side". This psyche has basically breeded the Tea Party and the GOP we have today.

Until we change this psyche we will see this country degrade into something worse.

We allow the Uber rich and corporations to drive these weggies and those few who finally "make it" and end up with wealth they become determine to treat others as they where treated and make life harder on everyone else (yes, I know not all people but in general.)

So for me I see both political parties as two side of the same of the same coin. I see corporations getting what they want and turning this country into some sort of Feudal country where we are serfs and they are the Lords.

I am concerned for the future of my nieces and nephews and what type of country they will join when they reach 18 years.

I will be voting for President Obama this year only because he is the lesser of 2 evils. Yes I am aware of all the good he has done and praise him for such The big one being the removal of Don't ask Don't Tell. HOWEVER there are things Obama has done that I am very sadden by. The lastest of which is NDAA. Also the idea he will be given the ROBO signing immunity.

My husband is refusing to vote at all. He has become so disillusion with Democrats and Repugs that he has given up on politics as a whole. I can't talk him into voting again. He's tired of "getting Screwed by federal state local governments and my work place".

So this is what I'm dealing with and why I have come to the belief that We got the country we deserve.

I like to think it will turn around and that we will once again get on the right track but I just can't believe it at this moment.

1. In 2000 when the republicons stole the election and the Democrats didnt care

you might say was a new phenomena to the American public that were under the misaprehension, that we lived in a democracy. But in 2004, we have no excuse. The republicons again stole the election and again the Democrats didnt care.

Then in 2008 the Democrats finally had a chance to undo the damage done by BushCo, but they didnt. They embarrassed the Patriot Act, the MCA, domestic spying, the Bush tax cuts, etc. Pres Obama even surrounded himself with conservatives like Geitner, Summers, Bernanke, Immelt, Daley, Jeb Bush, Rahm Emmanuel, Robert Gates, Alan Simpson, Dave Cote, Gen McCrystal, Jacob Lew, etc.

Occupy recognizes the problem, do you?

We have bred a couple generations of seriously greedy selfish people. Not all mind you, but in general the mindset is take as much as you can and give nothing back.

Talk to any hard working American. The American dream of "working hard=doing well" is long gone. The people who work the hardest are paid the least and ignored the most.

It's as much the fault of the general populace as it is the rich and greedy. We put them up on a pedestal, give them TV "reality" shows and read about them in People, US and the 10 million other "celebrity" magazines my wife gets.

I live in a country where "Snookie" is a rich celebrity. How sad is that?

My wife watches it. I don't do much TV either, I watch Bones and Law and Order, and movies. Plus any series on HBO.

If you are without knowledge of Snookie I suggest you stay that way. Watching Jersey Shore can lower your IQ instantly.

I'm sitting with my wife and youngest son and they are watching some stupid reality show. I toss my son the remote and tell him "change the channel before my IQ dips to double digits". He flipped to.. Beavis and Butthead.

Pretty much the same sentiment as your cartoon I guess.

We're not allowed to even say the "K" word out loud around here.

Can you guess? It has something to do with a certain family.

It's all such a sad, sad statement about the human race.
