and that will require an immediate, no strings attached increase in the debt ceiling.

America must be united in wartime, you know.

And I find it extremely curious that there is always, ALWAYS plenty of $$$$ for WAR but we're also always on the threshold of bankruptcy (a la Greece) because of Social Security, Medicare, etc. and we need to make the "tough decision" to cut them yesterday! Hmmmmm.................

I had access to cable at that time and Chris Matthews was clearly opposed to the war. He was one of the few people on TV that I saw who opposed the war. He even spoke the 'N' word at that time: neocon.

There are very few things that would necessitate a war with Iran. Very, very few.

that's sorta part and parcel of adhering to a modern nation-state identity. there's no "allies" we won't fight if they decided to invade us. such a platitude is specious.

the only thing that matters is who gets to define "if we have to" and why they define it so. too often the "if we have to" ends up being for reasons of personal gain more than anything. one should always doubt war's justification.

this is simply tail chasing stupidity. but it's also unsurprising. Tweety is a born malcontent. without controversy he is nothing. to be ignored as irrelevant is his greatest fear. we should give it to him.

They actually used the truth about WMD's in Iraq, but really played with the time frame. Most of the WMD information was collected during the 80's when we were helping Iraq with it's war with Iran. Iraq did have and actually used WMD's during that war on it's own Kurdish populations and the Iranians who were kicking their butt. Fast forward to GW1 and GW2, that information was dredged up and used for justification for US entry. The original weapons were either used or neglected to the point they were not viable for military use and presented only local hazmat problems. When we tried to find the weapons in GW2, all that was left was empty and rusted casings covered in 20 years of dust.

War with Iran can be justified in the same manner by using an element of truth and twisting it to elicit the desired effect you want.

History will repeat itself yet again.
