Koch's Last Message for Cuomo

In a fascinating interview with the New York Times that was not to be made public until his death, former New York City mayor Ed Koch had final words for his 1977 mayoral opponent Mario Cuomo and called him a "prick."

Said Koch: "Even though social relationships when we meet in public are good, underneath, he knows that I know what I'm thinking--'you prick.'"

in 1977 he had a run-off for Mayor w/Cuomo; Cuomo's supporters started this: Vote for Cuomo, Not the Homo. Thus the anger. Very colorful interview, worth a watch.

& Cuomo feigned ignorance.

Koch's integrity & good standing with the everyday people seemed to matter to him most. He was a good man.

Koch was slowly turning into a Republican. Only death has saved his soul.

i do wonder if part of it was because he knew he was nearing the end and wanted to be on the right side for the rest of his days.

I heard the tape in its entirety.
Ed Koch finally got his revenge. And it will resonate forever now.
Bravo Mayor Koch.

Mario was asked by Koch to do something about taking the signs down, and Mario did nothing.

And Mayor Koch has taken Andrew out of any future higher office plans for VP or anything.

And i still want to know what the skeletons are that stopped Mario from going on that plane,
and when he refused the offer from Bill Clinton (not once, but twice)

I will never vote for Andrew in any primary specifically for this.

I fully remember this, and always did. Politics at its dirtiest by the Cuomo's.

And it backfired and didn't work.
And now though, Karma comes back to slap them.

as for Ed Koch, he was New York City.
Was very bad on three major issues (racism and AIDS and Unions in some years
but he was a great cheerleader for NYC and never was at a loss for words.
