tennessee: Don't say crazy, but Sen. Stacey Campfield is a head case
Every January, in a predictable nutcake ritual, state Sen. Stacey Campfield climbs down from Crazy Mountain and makes his way to Nashville, sprinkling Legislative Plaza with bills that make Tennessee a laughingstock.
Only this year, hes become the punch line. In a beautiful twist, the Tennessee Equality Project launched a campaign within hours of Campfield filing his annual Dont Say Gay law. They call it the Stacey Campfield Counseling Fund.
Weve grown concerned about Senator Campfields homophobia, pathological obsession with gay people, and the effect of his campaign against youth in the state of Tennessee, the TEP wrote in a blog post. Weve come to believe that if his personal demons arent addressed, Senator Campfields issues will harm Tennessees youth and result in him filing more hateful legislation.
Tennessee Equality Project is launching the Stacey Campfield Counseling Fund to address the senators unresolved issues. We think that some good therapy could bring the senator to his senses and end attempts to legislate homophobic policies in the public schools of Tennessee. Were calling on concerned citizens to rally in support of Tennessees youth by addressing the unmet behavioral health needs of our states wayward senator.
