Alain de Botton publishes ten commandments for atheists

Writer Alain de Botton has created a set of ten commandments for non-believers that also includes virtues such as hope and sacrifice.

The author wrote his Manifesto For Atheists because being virtuous had become ‘a strange and depressing notion’, while evil had a ‘peculiar kind of glamour’.

He said: ‘It reminds us that we all need to work at being good, just as we work at anything else that really matters.’
