FLORENCE — Lauderdale County High School football coach Bob Grisham has been suspended without pay for anti-gay and derogatory comments about first lady Michelle Obama that he made last week to students.

The suspension of Grisham, who led the Tigers to the state semifinals last season, is for 10 days. He must also attend sensitivity training for four days and will be removed from teaching the fifth period psychology course for the remainder of the school year.

School board members met in executive session Monday afternoon before announcing the action. They declined comment and ended the meeting.

Grisham, who teaches psychology and driver’s education, was taped by a student in his class as he discussed Michelle Obama and gays. The 1 minute, 24 second-long audio tape went public Jan. 27 in a TimesDaily article.

Grisham said he was in a debate-type situation at the time and misspoke. He described the first lady as “fat butt Michelle Obama,” and voiced his dislike for “queers” several times.

'remainder of the year', hell.

Forever.

This shit-heel is not going to change tone over the course of a Summer.

The powers that be hope that the person will take the hint and quietly leave. Maybe a humiliating punishment (sensitivity training with Jane Elliot). Or they can make life really tough if they decide to return and don't take the hint

"Oh, you want to come back. Oh, um, OK. Well, uh, we had to put you in a new office. You see we're going to be doing some renovations to the building. Your new office will be here" (in the basement where the heating and AC don't work, and mice have been seen from time to time).

"Grisham: You'd better be aware of it. And people running around like, oh it'll get better, it'll get better. No, it ain't gone get no better until things change. I can give you example after example of that, but I don't want to use any local names to give you examples. Things won't get better until there's a change in some areas and stuff. And you know what his platform was? Change. We're gone change. We're all … aw it's OK …. for … and … y'all can get pissed off at me or not. You can go tell the principal, you can call the superintendent and tell her. I don't believe in queers, I don't like queers. I don't … I don't hate them as a person but what they do is wrong, it's an abomination against God. I don't like being around queers."

I am not even going to copy and paste what the cretin said about the First Lady.

Unlike your god, they don't require your belief in them to exist. And he's teaching psychology?!?!? FFS

I guess football and the appearance of being a "good christian" is all that matters.

"I think it's fair because I'm a big supporter of Mr. Grisham. I've known him for years," said Lee Barclay. "He's taught my children. My son played football under him. He's a good Christian man; he just misspoke that day."

"I think he should be suspended more days than they gave him because we all have thoughts and thinking in our mind but don't say it out loud to kids," said Christine Perkins

Without a doubt the people in this area are insane. They have a Business Park. What business would want to move into that area?
