I find it incredibly boring and repetitive. Give me a good documentary instead anytime! Unfortunately, my hubby does not agree with that. And so I endure. (sort of)

(955 posts)Otherwise 50 Shades of Grey wouldn't be selling near as many copies. That said, lots of porn is aimed pretty squarely at men, so women tend to not dig it as much. There is porn aimed at women, couples, or at least recognize that men sometimes watch it with women, so maybe try convincing him to get stuff that does something for the both of you, instead of just himself.

(81,350 posts)Besides, I can barely get to the stuff I WANT to read, which isn't fiction. It's the stranger-than-fiction stuff - like the political stuff and links I always get from here. And I'm overloaded on that score, too! I don't have time for fiction. And I can get all of that I want from Pox Noise anyway.

(25,699 posts)There are two facts you need to understand.
1) Women generally read more books than men.
2) Stupidity and poor taste are equally distributed between the genders.
Combine these two facts, and you understand why the illusion of 50 Shades of Grey being especially popular with women is produced.

(8,515 posts)I have friends, and my friends have friends, and many, many women are talking about and reading 50 Shades of Grey. BTW, I actually don't consider these books pornography. They are a well written love story, which certainly includes erotica. There is a huge difference.

(4,015 posts)Here's me, all the while thinking that 50SoG is exactly like the smut novels they write for men. In fact, I see no difference at all - especially in the writing which is just as poor as in the novels meant for men.
"His enormously long fingers" ... Come on. If this was written by a man for men this would serve as a favorite example of what is wrong with male-oriented porn amd erotica.

Many studies have shown that there are differences between men and women sexually in that men are more easily turned on visually. Porn simply makes the job infinitely easier.

(41,987 posts)I feel about porn the way I do about most "taboo" things. The world would be well served by having healthy access and a regulated market. There's a lot out there that doesn't float my boat, and some that freaks me out, but as long as no one is hurt and people can figure out how to deal with how it might impact their lives I don't object.

(53,661 posts)Although I don't like Waterboy, Beavis, etc. I like action films with lots of stuff flying around and impossible stunts. Also I love all Jackie Chan movies, especially the parts at the end. He's my hero.
And those scenes in Golden Eye. Pierce Brosnan does the thing on the side of the dam and gets inside and all of that and still manages to not get shot.
Then he's flying off a cliff on a motorcyle. Just so happens he lands inside a plane that just so happens has an open door that is going in a dive off the same cliff.
A lot of other really cool stuff happens in that movie. I could watch it over and over.

(16,956 posts)even a lot of the supposedly natural breastesses on the so-called stars are enhanced. I'm not even talking about the obvious fake ones, but fairly natural ones who advertise themselves as natural have before/after pictures floating around that shows them smaller when they entered the business.
Not that it matters, I guess. But a lot of them sure go through a lot of work to be "fantasy" women.

Men's and Women's use of porn has been converging ever since the dawn of the internet and if things go on this way these marked differences will disappear. I find that my post-millenial friends show no marked difference in attitude toward porn - at least not one that is clearly based on gender.
