Obama aides talk sequester with defense contractors
David Jackson, USA TODAY

President Obama's staff is looking for political support in the upcoming sequester battle, and White House aides met Wednesday with defense contractors who would be affected by the series of major budget cuts.

The aides included senior adviser Valerie Jarrett, National Economic Council director Gene Sperling, budget director Jeff Zients, and top economist Alan Krueger.

The contractors included officials with Northrop Grumman Corporation, Pratt and Whitney, BAE Systems, and the Aerospace Industries Association.

"The focus of the conversation was the potential devastating impacts of the sequester going into effect," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.
