She has long become a hero of the left. And it's not just in the "swoop in at election time and give some attention to a candidate" way. She is the real deal -- smart, eloquent, intellectual.
Kentucky -- a traditionally red state -- would be lucky to have her, and as a native daughter, she has a better chance of winning than most other liberal types. No one could deny that she loves Kentucky and the south and just wants the best for the area.
This last election has proven that all the money in the world can't buy you political seats. Elizabeth Warren beat a well funded Scott Brown in Massachusetts and Sherrod Brown beat Josh Mandel (also well funded) handily in Washington. Judd has friends in high places, but it seems she really needs friends on the ground, in her native state.
If she could win, it would be a great day for Kentucky and for the country. And the haters can stop their whining and watch old footage of Reagan.

Thanks for the update Cha.
I just had to go to channel 5 for the weather update. Have you heard about the blizzard we are getting. This on the anniversary of the oh so famous 78 blizzard. They are predicting 16-24" in my area! Hurricane Force winds! White out conditions for 36 hours. Shit!
I sure hope my Company has the god given sense to close.
Cha
(297,232 posts)sounds Huge! Snowbound perhaps!
I was just wondering about how you would get to work. I take it you're off today? Are you right in Boston? My friend in New York has a son and daughter in law 45 minutes outside of Boston but he teaches school in the city so that would really not work for him. Oh well he can stay home with their new baby.
Keep us updated on the developement, she..
P.S. My cyberbuddy in Mass asked me if we had to evacuate here in Hawai'i on the 5th because there was an 8 point Earthquake in the Santa Cruz Islands which I had heard nothing about till then. They thought so at first but then the danger passed. Whew. Poor them, though.. "Villages were swept away".

(83,768 posts)I am about to catch a 5pm update. State of Emergency already declared. School closings being announced. You can catch live update if you Google Channel 5 Boston. I tried to send you a link.
I heard a brief bit on the earthquake...however never thought it was close enough to be a danger to you!

PS
I am sort of ready for the storm. Hurricane lamps, made a large pot of soup. All a moot point if I lose power. Last one I lost it for 9 hours! Plus no computer!
Cha
(297,232 posts)Or does the hurricane lamps substitute for them?
When I was on Kaua'i in the 90s for 6 years and we went through Hurricane Iniki on 9/11/92.. the thing I remember needing first was water and batteries. We ended up being without electricty for 3 months. 'Course that was before 'puters.. I'd have a Hard time being without one now! I understand the

(31,706 posts)...a major reason his "Crossroads" did so poorly last year was it had no ground game. He threw millions in TV ads...so much so he ended up throwing away money in states such as Michigan and Iowa where his candidates were way behind. He thinks that teevee ads alone can damage an opponent enough to let his candidate slip by. The problem in the post CU world is the vast amounts of money thrown at the teevee have hit the law of diminishing returns. There was a lot of resentment in states that were "air bombed"...such as Ohio and in the end the money was wasted.
Looks like Karl's back at the same game again...hoping to wound Ms. Judd in hopes she won't run and try to create a negative narrative that Turtleman can try to run with. The fun will be if the teabaggers run a primary challenger against him. My hopes are that Rove pisses off the baggers to have them run some nutjob. 2014 could be quite amusing indeed...

(34,386 posts)"Iconoclasts", which paired outstanding people from different fields holding a conversation. Ashley Judd was paired with Madeleine Albright in one episode and Judd impressed the hell out of me. She would give Yertle and his crepe-y neck a run for his and Turdblossom's money!

Seriously, she will have to move back to Kentucky OR she will need to run in Tennessee against Lamar Alexander.

As always...Mass is kicking Ass...Then again so is Nemo.
However, we are up to kicking the collective asses of the GOP all the way back to hell. It is where they belong.
Let's vote people, 2014! Lift up your voices. Let us be heard. It is time to say No! The Stagnation, the Hypocristy, the Social injustice! Dear God when will it end. The GOP is about to become extinct, and they don't even know, they have no clue.
