New York Republican on gun control: Hitler would be proud of Gov. Cuomo

A New York state assemblyman apologized Tuesday for comparing Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo to the infamous 20th century dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.

At a press conference, Republican Assemblyman Steve McLaughlin said Cuomo acted like a dictator by pushing a gun control bill through the New York legislature last month.

Hitler made it easier to get guns in Germany. Gun control was imposed on Germany by the armistice signed after world war 1. Hitler removed those restrictions. In 1938 he lowered the age for gun permits from 20 to 18 and extended them for three years. He also removed the need for a permit to acquire long guns. Provisions restricting the amount of ammunition or the number of firearms an individual could own were dropped. Hitler's government enhanced the rights of German citizens to keep and bear arms; no new restrictions were added, and many pre-existing restrictions were relaxed or eliminated. Only non citizens were not allowed to own firearms. Jews were not allowed to be German citizens. Why do people keep posting this "Hitler-like gun control" tripe?

Is why they choose to go with Republican talking points on that issue. I have guns and have no problems with gun control.

The answers are obvious. The long list of evicted gungeoneers is the proof.

...why they espouse the GOP positions on gun control. They ignore it. Not a one has answered the question.
