how come Religious groups don't have influence in Girl Scouts as they do Boy Scouts ?

i don't know much about the details about the scouts and who tends to be members and funding and other issues.

but are they totally different groups ? how come they seem to have so much influence in the boy scouts while almost none in the girl scouts ?

Religious conservatives are more likely to stick their nose in regarding the raising of boys, whom they consider important and the future - girls they leave alone as they do not see them as the ones they hope will be doing things of great influence.

They should be at home watching their younger siblings.

Also, there has always been a lot more "molestation panic" in the general media around boys than girls. It's sad when girls are sexually abused but so common it isn't even really news. Whereas when boys are abused, something must be done.

Though they are probably OK with girl scouts so long as it is about cooking and sewing, which is an element of it, or was back in my day.

I agree far right wingers would be far less concerned about molestation of girls, who were likely asking for it in any event.

but it's kind of an uncomfortable issue.

that (usually anti gay, anti women types) don't seem as outraged by girls being sexually abused while they seem to worry about anything where some boy/man might be sexually abused.

things like the military, boy scouts etc they always use that as an excuse.

but these same people say nothing about situations where men would control girls/women and usually they feel that's how it should be.

My wife was a Girl Scout leader. It's totally secular, even if they are associated with a church, it's just a place.

meet up in non-denominational places. For example, there is a boy scout troop by me that meets in a Lutheran church while the girl scouts meet in a public civic center.
