It isn't the gun, it is who has the gun. Ordinary couples don't fly into violent rages against each other. Whenever there is a domestic murder, the couple almost always has a history of violence. Domestic abusers, upon conviction, are already barred from owning guns.

Leave happy couples alone, but definately take them away from men who beat their wives.

then the violent criminal will need to expend additional energy and time to seek another way to kill his victim. No situation was ever improved by the presence of a firearm. It can only make things worse.

If you had read the article, you would have known that enforcement of the "no guns for domestic abusers" is a huge problem, either through indifferent police work, or no background checks. Both issues need to be addressed.

And...pray tell, what's an "ordinary couple?" I don't know what that means.

My wife is alive because she had a gun when she needed it - twice. Twice she was about to be mugged but when the thug realized that she had a gun he turned and fled, both times, no shots fired. Since she is a senior citizen, small and somewhat frail, she would not have survived the incident if he had attacked.

The vast majority of married couples don't get violent with each other. Those are "ordinary couples".

I totally support taking guns away from wife beaters.
