About that "Day of Resistance"

Sadly, I have a gun nut (and just nut nut) relative on FB whom I no longer argue with, but do watch her posts to get the lay of the land over in Clownville.

She's all about this upcoming Day of Resistance for the 2nd Amendment conspiracy theorists, but it seems people all over the country are having a HELL of a time getting permits to hold the things in parks, public land, etc. They're all shrieking themselves into a foaming fit over it but I find it encouraging. I even ventured to the web site and nearly all of their proposed locations are still TBD. The ones that are on are mostly on the steps of capitols, which seems well guarded to me.

In their frenzy, there is much likening their gatherings to Civil Rights era protest marches and, I shit you now, lamenting how EASY it was for THEM.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

3. I'll just add they're pretty pissy about not being able to carry in those protests, too.

Which they claim is in reference to .223 calibre ammunition.

How clever...

6. Hopefully they'll be surrounded by the riot goons in full gear

Let them think about what would happen if someone started shooting. The goons have bullet proof clothing and plenty of target practice. And probably a tank or two and tear gas and all kinds of other crap.

Guess who would win that gunfight you 'resisters'.

7. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. These seem like fine places to stay FAR away from.

9. Yeesh. Horrible thought. I suppose some might gamble that.

And I think a little one in any place full of firearms and anger is a gamble.

13. Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. Luck runs like wine in the streets down there.

Unfortunately, sometimes that's literally!

Lots of good people, though. Wait til Mardi Gras is over and get to know the place. It really is awesome, for all its woes. Always had em, always will. But it gets a hold of you. *sigh* I am officially homesick.
