If you're having trouble Finding Nemo...

you must live on the left coast.

Snow wasn't supposed to reach my neck of the woods (midcoast Maine) until sometime after noontime.

Imagine my surprise when I was sipping my coffeh, staring out into the early morning dark grey-black stillness and suddenly thought I saw some blurry medium grey moving by. Got up and walked to the window...the first teeny flakes had just started. That was at 6:30 and already there was a confectioner's sugar coating.

The plows just came by for the *2nd* time this am. It's very, very light and very very fluffy, meaning it will be very, very, very deep, albeit easier to shovel.

Last time I was at work they sent out a phone # to call for snow emergency closing. Of course I forgot to write it down

Anyway, now I'm not sure whether Nemo is just moving faster than expected, or has sprawled out bigger than expected and plans to hang around extra long.

A warm one coming up from the south, and a cold one coming in from the NW.

That would explain the W/NW breeze, very cold temps and very, very light and fluffy snow up here. It reached upstate NY several hours earlier (3ish in the am?). There's already 4"+ in Portland, about 50 miles to my south.

still clear. I'm hoping we close soon. On a good day my commute is about 40 minutes.

I went up to bed at 11:30 and it still wasn't snowing. When I got up at 3, we had a couple of inches. I think we are at 5 inches, which is about the mid point of what they predicted, and our part of the storm is over. If it wasn't for the brisk wind, it wouldn't be so bad, outside. The drifting could be the worst of the problem.

As much as I hate winter, I love using the weather as an excuse to stay home and relax, so I took the day off. They won't get around to plowing my street until sometime tomorrow, if we're lucky. So, my driveway can wait until tomorrow to be cleared. It's more important to read a good book in front of a roaring fireplace, and enjoy comfort food and drink. At least that's what the cats told me.

but I'm thinking they've erred on the side of caution. Last time I looked, about half an hour ago, they predicted 2-4" today, before the storm gets going.

I just took my ruler out to my nice, level stairs for the 2nd time. We're already at 3 1/2" on the button.

It's a steady, pretty snowfall at this point...the blizzard isn't supposed to hit until 5pm or so. At this rate, we'll be at 10" before the real game begins!

Also, the breeze has shifted and now tends from the NE.
