Yeah, there's plenty of trash talking by dweeby looking guys like in the picture but the men who really have the least respect for women are those who have a string of them and they rarely look like that picture.

Every single one of the guys I've known that got a lot of sex from many different women were total narcissists, they may flatter the women initially and play the sweetheart role but they actually despise women and trash them constantly in many ways, think of them as meat there for the taking.

The football team members that were raping the women in Steubenville and then trashing them while laughing about it weren't dorky guys that weren't getting any, they were popular athletes with girlfriends.

that trash talking about a woman makes them men. And always in my experience, the trash talkers and misogynists are the most awkward with women, confused and afraid of them, and end up having the worst relationships and lonely lives. Doesn't matter if the man is rich or poor, handsome or no, if he doesn't know how to treat women, there is a gaping hole in his life.

I wish they could see this woman smile as she thanks all the kind commenters and then tell me she is ugly.

Fri Feb 8, 2013, 01:15 PM
Feb 2013

but that's obviously beside the point. I admire this young woman for standing up to the bullies. God damn, if it's one thing I hate, it's bullies.

On another note, doesn't the very fact teams use cheerleaders promote the objectification of women and judgment of them based on appearance? There are 6 NFL teams (including, I thought, the Packers) who do not have cheerleaders. They all have successful franchises, in terms of loyal fan bases, and four of them have perennially good win-loss records as well as some Super Bowl victories (Bears, Packers, Giants, Steelers). Obviously, a team doesn't need cheerleaders to be popular or to win games. I watched a lot of football while my daughters were growing up (and still do), and they both wanted to be cheerleaders when they were little, probably because, in part, they watched football with me and saw the cheerleaders on tv. My reaction was to encourage them to be an athlete on the field rather than the person cheering for them on the sideline.

I should emphasize this is not an attempt to denigrate the cheerleader in this case. Not at all. I'm just trying to look "higher up the food chain" at the people putting women like her in this position in the first place, even though, yes, I agree she chose this profession and shouldn't have to take any shit for having made that choice.

Out of the 32 in the league, only seven NFL teams lack a cheerleading squad. These teams are New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, and Cleveland Browns.

- The Pittsburgh Steelers
- The Chicago Bears
- The Cleveland Browns
- The New York Giants
- The Detroit Lions

Several Green Bay Packers cheerleading squads have performed in Green Bay Packers' history. The Packers became one of the first professional football teams to have a cheerleading squad, having first used cheerleaders in 1931. The squad performed for 57 years under three separate names. In 1988, it was decided that the team would cease having a professional squad cheer for them. As of 2007, the team uses collegiate squads in a limited role to cheer during home games.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bay_Packers_cheerleaders

She could have been a college cheerleader at Packers' games. She looks too young to have been a cheerleader in 1988. But that is just my guess.

I'm glad she is speaking up.

She's an adult who made the decision to become something of a public figure by being a Packers' cheerleader. Surely she understands those comments are only because they're from a rival team's fans - she obviously isn't ugly. Pictures of rival fans are posted and made fun of as well. This frivilous kind of complaining cheapens genuine claims of bullying.

She needs to grow a little thicker skin.

Fri Feb 8, 2013, 02:21 PM
Feb 2013

Whether you realize it or not,
you have been chosen for your occupation based on one major criteria,
your physical sexual appeal.

If you choose to strip down to the minimum level acceptable by law,
and dance before crowds of drunken men,
some of them are going to notice, and comment on this aspect of your physical appearance.

Unfortunately, a commercial spectacle where over sized men, pumped up on steroids,
try to kill each other with their bare hands while their owners charge exorbitant amounts of money from spectators who consider this the pinnacle of their week
does NOT attract America's Best & Brightest.

Those who then seek out the company of like minded on the internet for companionship until the NEXT weekend spectacle will further refine the population.
Much like Panning for Gold requires multiple washings to remove layers of contaminants, the people (men & women) who spend their time on Internet Sites dedicated to their favorite Sports teams are the Pure Refined Product.
Any contaminants of Respect, Manners, Compassion, Humanity, or Civilization
will have been washed away.

Pleased don't act shocked or insulted by what you find at the bottom of this pan.

It IS stating a condition of our World Reality.
I personally feel that that a is a very sad condition, and wish things on our planet were more humane.
I try to ensure that MY household is.
I don't tolerate that kind of behavior in MY home,
and am distressed that our little home at DU has been over run with it.

I also wish that chimpanzees wouldn't throw feces,
but if you get too close to their cage, guess what happens.
Those who don't approve of getting splashed with poo shouldn't
get that close to the cages,
and parents should warn their children that Chimpanzees fling Poo.

I DO feel that boorish behavior at sporting events is not NEAR the problem that killing innocent children with drones is,
and tend to prioritize THAT on my list of problems that need to be addressed.
