I Like Being Wrong

I am often wrong, I am wrong many times during the day, I am wrong in the way I write, the way I spell, in my thoughts, ideas and expressions. I have been wrong in some shortly held beliefs and some long held ones as well. I am wrong in what I think to be true at this moment, but I will argue it to my empty shame. I wallow in my wrongness. I embrace my mistaken perceptions and explore them to an unsatisfying depth that should be reserved for the truly deficient.

Why would I engage in this most disgraceful of pointless activities? Well, I suffer from a need that can only be facilitated from being wrong. It gives me a high, shameful as it is, that is rare and exotic, filled with mixed spices and heady aromas. It swirls in my nose and confronts my palate. It is a most potent but gratifying dish.

Simply put, being wrong means I have learned something. And learning is something I savor.

Now why would I think that this is something that should be placed on a Democratic message board with the various flavors of true believers that fill the stew here? Well, it’s because that while I strongly think that I have a handle on what it takes to craft a equitable, judicious society I never want to be so vain or contemptuous as to fail acknowledgment of evidence which shows that the goals I have are not met with my views or policy positions. I must always allow the option of being wrong. To do less is to allow the sauce to break.

I am, and will always be, hungry.
