Sunday Shooting Review

Here is just some of the gun violence against children from the past week (2/3-2/10) that you should be aware of and which will hopefully motivate you to join the American Academy of Pediatrics and others who are advocating for ways to keep our kids safe:

• A 3 year-old boy was shot accidentally by his mother's boyfriend.

• A 14 year-old boy was shot in his home.

• A 2 year-old boy, 3 year-old girl and 6 year-old girl were shot by their mother, who then turned the gun on herself.

• A 14 year-old boy was shot near a park.

• A 16 year-old girl was shot in her back yard.

• A 5 year-old boy and his grandfather were shot by an unknown person.

• A 16 year-old boy was shot in his apartment.

• A 16 year-old boy was shot in a vehicle.

• A 13 year-old girl was accidentally shot by her 14 year-old brother.

• A 16 year-old girl was shot in front of a church.

• A 10 year-old boy and his aunt were shot near a market.

• A 3 year-old boy and his father were shot in their car.

• A 15 year-old boy was shot by his father in their home.

• An 11 year-old boy was shot at a park.

• A 3 year-old boy shot himself in the head with an unattended pink handgun.

Again, I have stopped including reports on children over the age of 16; going to 17 would nearly double the list again.

Here's to a better week. Thanks for reading.

Raising our awareness will surely (I hope, I pray) lead to solutions to stop the needless killing of our youth. It inspires me to action.

because it breaks my heart with each story.

How can we even pretend we are civilized when this is going on in our neighborhoods and cities throughout our country?

How much of our resources do we spend each week to stop or punish people for smoking a plant and nothing is being done to stop this?

I feel hopeless and ashamed.

I personally had no idea there were so many shootings in this country. Disgraceful!

15. A very good way to keep this in their faces

Please continue this roundup. I think that the weapon industry expects the furor to die down each time after a couple of weeks of a massacre and sales/marketing to be able to continue apace. Perhaps we could try to get one of those graphs on the pages of the MSM like they used to do for body counts of "enemies" killed in Vietnam.

It would be great to have the MSM print graphs of body counts, but don't hold your breath.

Here, have a heart.

Lafayette police have arrested Seth Fontenot, 18, of Lafayette, and charged him with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder following an early-morning shooting that killed a 15-year-old boy and wounded two others.

and-
Police say Santiago stopped one of them, a 15-year-old who struggled with him. A local merchant saw the two grappling and alerted officers at the stationhouse.

Police say the teen was carrying a loaded .380-caliber firearm, and they found a 22-year-old who had been shot twice in the leg. He's in stable condition.
