I pay taxes to keep everything functioning so a debt capable of bringing it all down is of no use to me. Moreover I am willing to pay more because all of our livelihoods and way of life depend on a functional government.

We are not getting what we are paying for. Only empty promises they won't be able to keep because of poor planning.

If they fixed the hedge fund carried interest loophole that would be good.

Besides, as long as they pay more in total than I do I don't see where I can complain. Paying a percent of your income is practical. Is it fair that one person pays millions while i pay thousands? I don't know.

Even Adam Smith, you know the "Wealth of Nations" guy that the RW is so enamored with, was an advocate of progressive taxation.

That is why I said its practical. And I am willing to pay more to make it all work, unlike so many others, because I do think this country is worth it.
