Have had odd electricals on around for ages. union and non union. don't think this is the right time to find out if your grounded yet or not.. and I have some working knowledge on how to install things. Preferably not on a miswired house. (ones where you've shut off the power to the room and 1/2 of the outlet. oh but the other 1/2 is still zap oh hello.

(3,629 posts)It was a brand new protective relay that cut the power. Right now Entergy is saying the device failed andthe manufacturer is saying it wasn't configured properly when it was installed.

Everyone involved is claiming it was someone else. They'll wait until the story disappears completely before we find the real cause of the problem and then it will be just a blurb on the back page of the B section of the newspaper.

(97 posts)unlike the pathetic carpenters union the electrical union is pretty solid. i work in construction for over a decade and out of the 100s of jobs ive been on including remodeling work inside the superdome. 95% of the jobs were done by frischhertz electric a union company. not to say the work for the superbowl couldnt have been outsource tho

(26,403 posts)That said, the same environment which eschews worker rights also tends to create an atmosphere (lack of Education, regulations, etc.) where such mistakes are more likely to happen.
