(37,457 posts)Dorner needs to be put in prison forever.
LAPD needs to be investigated. This is independent of Dorner.

(53,661 posts)In the city I grew up in the South, in the sixties the problem of police brutality kept on until the community organized and elected officials who represented the minorities who were being abused. They set up a civilian review board, which I have been amazed to learn that some big cities still do not have. IA is not enough. Getting involved is the key, staying on it is the only thing that improves PDs. And if necessary, the Feds need to get into it. LAPD had a Consent Decree to oversee their behavior. There is a mentality that PDs often have that isolated them, and their work is blighting to the spirit. If some of the officers don't come into the work with a psychological issue, they may develop one or PTSD. They have a lot of problems and need oversight. It's not a loss to call in the DOJ.

(110,159 posts)as i think many police force across the nation are.
but, that is about all i know.

(51,666 posts)Large numbers of LAPD officers are former street gang members, and they have retained that mentality.

(7,362 posts)so far 3 people shot for driving vehicles that vaguely resemble his, and scores of homes broken into by the LAPD looking for him.
It's a police crime wave.

(67,782 posts)....the incident involving the third person shot AT today (he was not "shot" involved the Torrance police, not LAPD.

(19,497 posts)I'd like to know why the mayor of LA tolerates it, if it's as bad as some claim.

(37,457 posts)yes, the LAPD does many good things I'm sure, but it seems there's too much smoke to ignore the possible fire. As I said above, this is independent of Dorner and I would have said the same thing a month ago.

(3,245 posts)Now they are the ones investigating the murders he allegedly committed.
The feds definitely need to take over that case before LAPD contaminates all the evidence.

(17,064 posts)The idiots turning a quiet neighborhood into the OK Corral should be fired and charged. Attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon in public, reckless endangerment...you name it. The remaining LAPD needs a stand down period for some serious retraining and psychological screening.

(8,124 posts)I'd like to hear what he has to say. He was an officer in the Navy... he deserves due process.
I know there are many here who agree with Drone murder policy and think people should be targeted with no trial , no Jury, no due process.
I am not one of them.

(37,457 posts)I don't live in LA and don't have a dog in this fight, but I think there is more than enough smoke to justify them being investigated yet again. Independent of Dorner.

Now, ask the LA DU'ers what THEY think, I'm 3000 miles away safe from the madness. I'm done with this.

(51,666 posts)up there in Canada, but down here in the US of A we don't much appreciate it. We just have trouble getting our criminal justice system to treat criminal behavior by cops as anything serious.

(67,782 posts)I live in Connecticut, dill-weed, and I'm a native-born citizen of the United States of America.
We don't have jackbooted thugs for law enforcement here, nor do we have them in NYC where I grew up.
If one makes an accusation or claim, one should be able to explain the REASON for that claim.
Thank you.

(26,549 posts)Given the LAPD's reaction to the current situation, plus their very, very, very, very, very, very, very long history of corruption and excessive force, it's quite obvious that there should be some sort of investigation to figure out WTF they're doing.
Instead, you're sitting in Connecticut chewing people out when you know jack shit about the situation. And bashing people for daring to think you selecting a Canadian flag might somehow be relevant.

(67,782 posts).....a large police department being investigated, wouldn't it be fair for that person to articulate the specific reasons WHY he/she wants that investigation.
On top of that, it appears (lacking the specifics for the request) that this is being called for because of the second mistaken identity shooting over the weekend. But curiously, the second shooting was NOT by the LAPD, but the Torrance PD.
Now you get it?
