George W. Bush and Alcohol Use During His Presidency

Have any new stories come out concerning Bush and drinking during his presidency? I have of course seen the photos from European visits that seem to show empty wine and beer glasses laying around the table and the pictures from a baseball game where he seemed intoxicated to me. What I have not heard about is anyone that was close to him during his presidency coming out and saying that he was drinking. One would think that there are people that know for sure whether he was ever drunk while president, I mean the smell alone would have had to have been detectable by people that were near him but not in his direct employment like foreign leaders, security people, interpreters whomever.

Has anyone gone on record?

Why there wasn't a bigger outcry, at the time, always amazed me.

...I believe that when he "choked" on the pretzel he was actually drunk and that laura clocked him one.

After all, he was the most managed president and the best story they could come up with was that the pResident of the United States was too stupid to know how to chew a pretzel. Uh-huh!

PEACE!

Everyone in the White House was taking anti-depressants and the like. It's why Bush would appear to be coked up a lot, chewing the air hoagies and getting the powdered donut look at the corners of his mouth. Pills to wake up, pills to sleep. So many pills they rattle when they walk.

Oh wait, you said "Presidency"

Never Mind.

But, I would be much more concerned with Mrs. GHW Bush's use of alcohol during her pregnancy.

I saw guys like that over the years, with bruises like that.

They had been literally falling-down drunk.

So the "choking on a pretzel" sounded totally bogus to me.

Some heavy-duty antidepressants, like amitriptilene, multiply the effect of booze 5X or more. Ambien at the wrong time will leave you trashed like Cisco Red. Combine them with Little Boots sneaking a sip anytime he can, like a good altar boy, and the results are right in front of us....

I imagine there are plenty of reasons why no one has come out. Being sworn to secrecy, especially if your SS detail is the First Family. Being threatened, or paid off. The Bush family is very powerful.

acknowledge it. The Bush family is still powerful and they could make you life pretty miserable if you told the truth about Junior.

There was a video of him on a trip to Africa, and he made a fool out of himself trying to dance at a cultural event in an attempt to imitate the performers. Oh yeah: he was boozing hard those last few months I have no doubt.

is pretty damning and his staggering around the women's beach volley ball team. I don't know how much more proof you need. I think there was a statement by a former kitchen employee that was covered up and disappeared very fast about preparing drinks to be delivered up to the residences for a sort of happy hour, but perhaps those may have been for Laura or family guests.

An alcoholic who quits drinking, but does not get professional help. Hard concept to understand.

The dry drunk could have explained his crazy agenda, but don't know if it could cause him to be clumsy.

I saw some old videos of Bush from the 1980s. He's running around, campaigning for his father, with this horrific 5 o'clock shadow. He looked out of it.

whenever Obama speaks. He is so clever, so bright, so well spoken...

Truthfully he doesn't always do as much as I would wish, but damn...
Isn't it just FANTASTIC to have a president who is INTELLIGENT!!!??

Our bar was set so low after Dumbya, but still and all, I am just so thrilled to finally have a president with a brain.

before one of the big economic conferences. The look on Putin's face was one I've seen a lot of, it's the look of a sober spouse when the non sober spouse has taken that first drink and is getting out of control.

That particular conference (G-8?) was where he reeled around, talked with his mouth full, spraying food all over everyone, slurred his words badly, and gave Chancellor Merkel a very unwanted shoulder squeeze.

Yeah, I'd say it's pretty obvious the man was gassed.

However, the silence around Stupid is propelled more by the wish that he'd just disappear from the history books and stop embarrassing his party than a desire to protect him. They don't want to remind people we didn't go directly from Clinton to Obama.
