Los Angeles police have set up a command post and deployed officers in Northridge in response to a possible sighting of fugitive Chris Dorner.

Police received a tip at 3:33 p.m. about a possible Dorner sighting at Plummer Street and Corbin Avenue, near the Northridge Fashion Center, Los Angeles police Detective Gus Villanueva said.

The command post is set up Nordhoff Street and Shirley Avenue, and police have established a wide perimeter that includes the entire shopping district for their search.

"Anybody that says they see him or have seen him we're checking it out," Villanueva said.

.....When someone claimed they saw a white van drive off during one of the shootings. And over the next week or two, while the shootings were still going on, all people were fixated on was white vans.

Turned out the shooters never even had a white van--they were driving a brown sedan.

But the rumor control in these cases is off the wall.....

There's going to be chaos before they even find out where he is. And Dorner doesn't have to do a damned thing but stay in hiding.

That million dollar award was just like throwing gasoline on a fire. People will be seeing Dorner everywhere.

I just have to shake my head and wonder...

The L.A. Mayor was at that Dorner press conference when they announced the $1M reward. He better start doing more to make this a civilized and coordinated effort with law enforcement. This looks like it's getting out of hand with their lack of tactics. How many stores are going to evacuated every time some one sees a black man that fits his description.

Store manager Majid Yahyai said when his employee went to throw out of the trash, he discovered a magazine clip filled with bullets, a military belt and a helmet. A man matching the description of LAPD manhunt suspect Christopher Dorner was caught on surveillance camera tossing the items into a dumpster behind Yahyai s store 12 hours after he's suspected of killing a couple in Irvine. Kim Baldonado reports from Buena Park for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Feb. 9, 2013.

He's not going to be caught anytime soon, I'm thinking. He's already across the desert or holed up someplace nice and snug or on his way to get that former LAPD chef... wasn't he on the hit list?
