1. I think that they don't have the foggiest idea where Dorner is.

So those drones are not going to find anything but people who are not Dorner. I hope that they really find him before any other innocent people are shot at by incompetent police.

I worry that this thing has turned into a media circus. And that million dollar reward will only make it worse, maybe much worse.

This is turning into a clusterfuck.

4. Yep, he vanished.

If he is not dead frozen up there in the snow, the cops have a lot to worry about. And given what we have so far, I don't think he is dead frozen up there in the snow.

6. Nope. I suspect the burnt truck was a diversion.

He probably had planted another vehicle and is on the road or has gone to ground somewhere.

If he is still up in those mountains, he could just disappear. They may never find him. Like DB Cooper.

3. LAPD is pretty bad, but don't forget Dorner is a murderous lunatic.

He gunned down two innocent people, then murdered a random cop regardless of his involvement in the corruption. Regardless of whatever pressure he was under for whistleblowing, he's the bad buy in this.

7. I read the manifesto. I do not consider Dorner a reliable reporter.

Yes, the LAPD is fucked up. But Dorner is a crazy cold blooded murderer who had years and years to take (non-murderous) action re the malfeasance of the LAPD and did no.

He wants to create as much suffering as possible.

8. Is this like when Beck reads from the Bible? Are we supposed to stand at attention or something?

Dorner waited 2 weeks before making his allegations. They came the day AFTER his partner asked for him to be reassigned.

His ex-girlfriend described Dorner as 'twisted' and 'paranoid'.

Whatever Dorner had to say in his manifesto should be looked at with more than suspicion. The guy is a lunatic.

The LAPD is also sometimes a lunatic organization. That does not mean that Dorner's word on anything should be taken at face value.

And there is that sinister-sound word 'drone' again. Big. Fucking. Deal.

Is it better to have loud helicopters patrolling the area where pilots are at risk to themselves and at risk of giving Dorner a heads up?

I don't even know who Joe Madison is but he sounds like someone who wants to be at the center of attention if he thinks reading a lunatic's ravings are in any way helpful to the situation.

It's strange that lunacy in the real world infects us here at DU, too.
