Grayson Returns EmboldenedThey got rid of me for two years, but now Im back, Florida Democratic Rep. Alan Grayson said with a wide grin. To clarify, the Alan Grayson the insult-dishing, left-wing lightning rod, cable TV mainstay is back.
. . . Grayson said the House historian informed him the victory, a 43-point swing from his 2010 loss, was the biggest comeback in history of the House . . .
Asked whether Democrats, who fiercely protested George W. Bushs aggressive use of executive power to fight terrorism, should be protesting President Barack Obamas similar policies, Grayson quickly pivots to an attack on Republicans.
They love the taste of blood, Grayson said. Theyre consistently pro-war, consistently pro-killing foreigners. They view the entire world as either a massive inconvenience or something they feel is a personal threat. One or the other. They dont recognize the world as full of human beings.
Im just honest! OK? he said, later adding, Honestly, I get all sorts of atta boys from people because I have the chance to appear on TV frequently, and they dont, and I say the things that everyone else is thinking here but nobody else has the chance to say . . ."

(86,005 posts). . . Warren/Grayson sounds even more awesome to me; both speaking truth to power as bluntly and succinctly as any who have served before them.

(11,746 posts)he has identified "conservatives" as the real enemy. I follow Bernie a lot too and while he does criticize Democrat's he too almost always has his eyes on the real enemy and when push comes to shove he is on the right side.
I wish I could say that about every leftie.

(168 posts)vote for him last year because his is a new district. I hope, though, that he learned a lesson from when he lost against the teabagger and focuses all his re-election campaigns squarely on his accomplishments/bills introduced vs his opponent and doesn't get down in the weeds like he did last time.
I love Alan Grayson and his brashness. It works on the House floor and on tv interviews, but not always in the campaign

(37,573 posts)Grayson is a multi-millionaire who didn't really need my $20.
Who knows, Zerban could probably buy and sell me too.
(Zerban was running against Paul Ryan)

That is a perfect summation of the Republican approach to international diplomacy. "...a massive inconvenience..." just like reality is to Republicans.

(1,944 posts)We need more like him - politicians that are not afraid to speak the truth, even when it reflects badly on their own party, in order for us to move forward.
You go Al - you are a wonderful person and an amazing politician.

(9,298 posts)there are a lot of bold, brazen idiots in the House. They trash talk, lie, obstruct, etc., etc., etc.
But Alan Grayson's boldness is like a breath of fresh air and truly a beautiful thing to behold. Don't know if he would want to run for higher office, but if not, certainly hope he continues to sweep into whatever place he wants to be. I don't ever want to see him out again unless he makes that choice himself. His communication skills go a long way in exposing the hypocrisy and mendacity on the Right.
Congressman with guts - YES!
