(11,464 posts)He gets far more attention than he is worth.
Did he ever even have a hit record?
Most has beens at least have a song you can hum.
I can't recall him ever having one.

(12,041 posts)Aside from Cat Scratch Fever he really only has a couple other songs that were moderately successful, his name really only survives because he is one of the only right-wing rock stars and the Teabaggers don't have anyone else to listen to besides him and Pat Boone.

(4,452 posts)or will he walk out of there and say something stupid to the first reporter who approaches him?

(5,842 posts)He has already called the relatives of the Newtown victims "props" for the SOTU.
He won't be on FOX more than a minute before he says something offensive or insulting.

(1,047 posts)The nutcase should never have been invited in the first place. What's the purpose of him being there? And the nutcase who invited him & called him a "patriot" should have his access revoked.

(53,339 posts)Mr. Pants Crap Fever and I reported for our draft physicals in CA the same year. For our examiners, I suspect his was the more memorable.
I count my blessings that his appointment was in Oakland and mine was in L.A. I feel sorry for those who had to be in the same room with him. (For anyone who doesn't get it, check out this snopes entry: http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/nugent.asp )
That fucking war cost me a lot, but I'd still rather be me than him. I was seriously wounded by AK fire, was hospitlized for 18 months and retired for disability. Had to go back into the hospital years later to have my surgery re-done--and re-done again when the first op failed. I've had to struggle with incurable PTSD for decades (though I'm pretty good at managing it now).
For all that, I'd still choose my life over his.

(53,339 posts)I worked for a couple years at the VN Veterans Memorial in D.C. for a non-profit, peer-counseling VN vets among other things. It was striking to see how many other trauma survivors gravitated to VN vets, feeling something in common with us.
I have the same experience these days when I meet rape trauma survivors (often from the military). Despite the situational differences, we have a lot in common. And together, we draw strength from the support of our brother and sister trauma survivors.
It may be hard to believe that we deserve the best, but we do. Everyone does.
We learn a lot, traveling this road, but in the end it only makes us better--if we survive.
To the survivors!

(21,925 posts)Sport hunters or gun collectors who have guns around to admire them would not describe themselves as part of a military. This is language that the survivalist nuts or extreme white peoples' militia nuts would recognize and understand.
