LA residents to police: Dont shoot, were not Dorner
After three Californians were nearly killed this week by police officers opening fire at people mistaken for suspected murderer Chris Dorner, a solution may finally stop the shootings. And no, the cops havent caught the killer.
In the wake of three recent extreme cases of mistaken identity, some entrepreneurial Internet users have designed merchandise that sends a strong message to the police. Dont Shoot, Im Not Chris Dorner bumper stickers and t-shirts are now being sold on the Web while investigators intensify their manhunt for the suspected killer, a mission that continues to elude authorities and has led officers to so far shooting three people during their search.
In addition to an array of t-shirts and bumper stickers being sold on eBay and other websites, homemade items have also been spotted across LA, including hand-drawn signs placed on pickup trucks that may or may not easily be mistaken for Dorners. But for those that lack the enthusiasm and ingenuity to do-it-themselves, Dont Shoot, Im Not Dorner window decals are retailing on the online auction house for around $12. Those with more elaborate plans might need to increase their PayPal balance, though: a series of domain names relating to Mr. Dorner and the LAPD-led manhunt for him are being offered on eBay for $5,000 each.

(18,672 posts)1. Ouch!
Not having lived in CA, I didn't realize how many people disliked and distrusted the LAPD until this fiasco. It's pretty bad when a guy kills 3 people and it appears that he's still more popular than the LAPD.
(disclaimer: this is not in any way, shape or form an endorsement of Dorner and his manifesto)

Seems the LAPD has really botched this.

(14,887 posts)4. It has been going on for
decades. Every few years a new mayor promises to improve the situation. Then nothing happens. Then LAPD are hired into other communities and the infection spreads. I'm in Orange County and the worse cops here are former LAPD cops.

So far, no one looking remotely like him has been the target.
Hell, he could wear a t-shirt that says, "I AM Chris Dorner" and the LAPD would run right past him in their haste to shoot at some elderly Latino ladies or a skinny White dude.
