It looked like Rubio was struggling to keep his eyes on a teleprompter

while he reached for the water bottle so he wouldn't lose his place.

But i thought only socialists used a teleprompter.

while constantly stroking his chin in a nervous fashion for the entire speech.

Didn't think about the optics of a national TV broadcast where the camera is tight on his face. The lurch to grab the water bottle just killed him for any higher elected office... much like the rebuttal of Bobby Jindal killed his chance of higher office too.
