History of Pope Benedict and the sex abuse scandal

I just wanted to post this, because it's been brought up as replies several times but thought it'd make a good OP. Before becoming Pope, Ratzinger was the Prefect of the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith from 1981-2005. One of his duties as Prefect, was that all accusations of priest sexual abuse landed on his desk. It was his responsibility to dole out the punishment for priests found guilty of molestation. With all the news stories, you can see how well he handled that position.

So, attacking the Pope is not attacking your catholic faith, it's attacking the Pope. If attacking this rotten human being is an attack on you, does that then mean we all think catholics are child molesters by proxy? No, we don't. However, it would appear that Ratzinger was active in covering this up and letting rapists go without punishment.

Ratzinger is no angel in this entire sex abuse scandal. He was and is complicit since 1981. He even sought diplomatic immunity as the Pope in a case he was named in.
