(7,712 posts)According to the Havana Times, homes in Rodas, Cienfuegos in Cuba's center rocked as an object, reportedly the size of a bus, fell from the sky and exploded loudly. Apparently a very bright light lit the sky according to ANSA, quoting the Cuban morning TV news.
Specialists are said to be examining the scene for any potential remains of the mysterious object. Luckily no damage or injuries have been reported from the scene.
A resident in the area, Marcos Rodriguez, told El Comercio (Spanish language), "Around 8 pm (local time) on Wednesday we saw a light in the sky which moved into a flame. Big, bigger than the sun and after three or four minutes, we heard the explosion."
"It seems that it was a meteor, which are fragments of stones and metals that enter the atmosphere at high speed."

Sounds like the Russian meteorite, only that one made it all the way to the ground--it seems like this one broke up before it hit the earth.
