the right's plan: more poor white kids

http://www.nationofchange.org/right-s-plan-more-poor-white-kids-1360937850

What a difference two decades makes. Those who blasted African Americans with large families as the bane of our society now insist it’s Americans patriotic duty to have more (undereducated, white) children. This time it’s a real crisis. Minorities, just years from becoming the majority, aren’t voting Republican.

Of course it’s sold differently. The Wall Street Journal published conservative (conserving cash for corporations and the rich) Weekly Standard writer Jonathan Last’s sky-is-falling article. The Feb. 2-3 Weekend Review’s lead article “America’s Baby Bust” has him going apoplectic over our fertility rate. At 1.91, just below the replacement rate of 2.1, it’s supposedly the “root cause of many of our problems.”

White college-educated woman who have 1.6 kids on average are particularly to blame (despite China’s prosperity at a similar rate). Last uses his man-made crisis to trot out hare-brained Republicans schemes to promote child bearing: less value on college, lower social security taxes, and improving the highway system.

The recent piece is only worth talking about because wacky right-wing articles emerge as Republican memes, particularly when their arguments are specious (think “forcible” and “legitimate” rape and restricting access to birth control).

over birth control. White women are not having enough babies to keep the white people in the majority. ANd that scares the crap out of some of them.

So if birth controls were heavily restricted or even banned completely,do these people assume that only one ethnic group will produce more offspring??..

they would have all non whites sterilized while the whites continue to have children as they wish. But since they can't sterilize the non white population (though I imagine they are giving it one hell of a go with GM foods) they have to get the white people producing more to keep up.

Oh, and yes. I would think that they would reason that it's their republican women who would be mostly effected. Mostly convinced to have more children.

It's just what I see when I hear the republicans try to outlaw and control reproduction.

Why else? It's about votes or money for republicans. That's what everything they rampage about comes down to IMO

We are absolutely terrified for the possibilities of another.

It's disaster capitalism that has created our generations one and done (or none) mentality.

8. Less value on college. Don't have a career. A woman dumbs down when marrying.

Sounds like a recipe for a strong vibrant group of White americans 30 years hence. Not!! Sounds like a prescription written by a quack.

Birthrates fall for all racial and ethnic groups as women in those groups gain economically.

The birthrate of educated Black and Hispanic women is roughly the same as educated White women. The birthrate of american Asian women is lower than that for White women, with many american Asian families having a single child.
