The plight of a Pakistani schoolgirl shot in the head by the Taliban has highlighted the dangers pupils - and particularly girls - face in trying to get an education there.
Malala Yousafzai, 15, was attacked in October after campaigning for girls' rights to education.
A bullet was removed from her head by surgeons in Pakistan, before she was flown to the UK for further treatment.
But as Orla Guerin reports from Pakistan, militants continue to target schools.

(10,602 posts)I was not all that fond of war in Afghanistan and no longer support it because we have spent so much money and lost so many lives. The problem was that Bush let the Taliban regroup by going into Iraq and putting all or resources there. And now Iraq is near civil war though no one is reporting how big a fiasco it will be in the end because of Bush.
When the war started I was glad to see the Taliban get their butts kicked. They were as murderous to the Afghanistanis as Pol Pot and the Kmer Rouge were to the Cambodians. And the Taliban will be just as bad in the future. They are simply vermin that deserves death to the last man because they are an example of the evil of fanatical religion to the core.
It is too bad that we can't have an international army big enough to go in an eliminate every last one of these scum with extreme prejudice. I know that I sound very harsh, but if anyone and their family reading this were suffering under the Taliban I am sure you would DO ANYTHING to rid yourself of their power over you.
Based on what I have read about them, they make the Nazis seem kind. The poor little girl they shot is just too much for me.
Our military is not perfect but as a former vet I know what our infantry goes throug.
What really makes me furious is that Bush and Cheney prolonged the war by their ineptitude. We could have had that country more stable and diminished the Taliban to nothing.
