Gender discrimination at World Series of Poker 2013?

This year's Ladies event has a $10K buy-in. Men are allowed to play in the event for $10K. Women, on the other hand, get a $9K discount and only have to pay $1K. Is this even legal in the U.S.?

I can't link into any poker sites from my work account but you can Google it if you need proof.

For a similar situation, see this wikipedia background on the legalities of 'ladies nights'... PoliticAverse Feb 2013 #1
